Nu-punk trailblazer BEX releases new single “Filfy”
BEX has released her vibrant new single, “Filfy”, a celebration of individuality and chosen family. The track is the latest to be taken from her upcoming debut EP, SCUM, which will be released on 27 October via Scruff of the Neck Records.
“Filfy” is a powerful and anthemic track that speaks to the importance of finding your place in the world, even when you don't fit in. The lyrics are a rallying cry for those who have ever felt like an outsider, and the music is a driving and energetic celebration of self-expression.
Bex says of her new single:
“It’s about coming together with people who are like-minded, having spent your life not fitting in because of how you look, dress, act, the music you listen to, your sexuality, your ethnicity... Filfy is a track about finding your home when you least expect it. Down in the dirt is where your group is, your chosen family - this chosen family is what you were looking for since day one. In a society where you feel useless & like you have no role, it can be in the strangest places that you find YOUR PLACE. We don't have to abide by the system, we can make our own system, our own bubble inside the world where we are safe to express ourselves, our views and be who we want to be. People who were once strangers can become your family.”
The accompanying self-directed music video sees BEX breaking free from mundane everyday life to find her place within her chosen family. The video is a visual feast, with vibrant colours and striking visuals that perfectly capture the energy of the song.
BEX is a rising star in the nu-punk scene, and “Filfy” is a statement of intent from an artist who is not afraid to be herself. In addition to the release of “Filfy”, BEX has also announced her first-ever headline tour of the UK. The tour will kick off on November 1st in London and will wrap up on November 4th in Glasgow. Tickets for the tour are on sale now.
