Lloyd's House announce new EP ‘The Masochist’

Glasgow-based alt-pop band, Lloyd's House, are making their mark once again with their upcoming EP, The Masochist, set to be released on 20 October via Wish Fulfillment Press.

The eccentric brainchild of Lloyd Ledingham, Lloyd's House weaves a unique lens around his world, resulting in a blend of surrealism and intensely personal reflections set against an eclectic musical backdrop. The Masochist was recorded and produced by Chris McCrory at Greendoor Studios in Glasgow, with mastering handled by Phillip Shaw Bova. This new release strikes a balance between the spirit of 90s Kerrang TV and Kylie Minogue while paying homage to sonic innovators like Perfume Genius and Spirit of the Beehive.

Ahead of the EP’s release the band have released the video for the lead single, "Ribbons." This psych-pop earworm showcases Lloyd's House’s diverse songcraft, as Lloyd's introspective lyrics lament lost love.

Lloyd shares:

"There’s no reason you can’t give people the hooks and catchiness we all look for in good pop songs without there being a deep nihilistic theme about relationships and our place in the world as individuals"

Explaining the concept behind the video, Lloyd says:

"We wanted to push the idea of being so overly pop and in-your-face that it's visibly distressing. We wanted it to look as if One Direction were held captive and forced to dance, ending in nothing but chaos. It fits the music pretty well given the direction we were going in, and the comedy of it all is a good contrast with the kind of pineful vibe of the track."

Lloyd's House are not afraid to challenge conformity with The Masochist, they embrace the beauty found in life's absurdity, creating a sonically rich experience that transcends boundaries.
