SUDS release video for latest single “Hard For Me”
SUDS have released a video for their latest single "Hard For Me", taken from their debut album The Great Overgrowth, due for release on 3 November via Big Scary Monsters.
What started with a hooky opening guitar, “Hard For Me” quickly became a unanimous favourite amongst the band. A track about looking back on past relationships and feeling pensive - maybe they didn't know those people as well they once thought they did - the accompanying video brings comfort through the happiness of friends. Filmed and edited by the band, the video features fun, DIY clips of the band finding fulfilment, love, and happiness from the glue of their friendship.
SUDS says about “Hard For Me”:
"Hard For Me is about looking back and realising you didn't know the person you loved as much as you thought. We wanted this video to show that contentment can be found amongst other loved ones whilst making memories. Nothing beats having a laugh with your mates on a day out."
As they did with their debut EP in 2022, In The Undergrowth, the quartet ventured to Kent to record with producer Ian Sadler, ready to explore the next chapter of their story. Step forth debut album The Great Overgrowth, a record brimming with addictive melodies and gorgeous moments of optimism. Songwriters Cater and Ames take an evocative and sometimes literary approach to lyricism, drawing inspiration from midwest emo and the 1960s Greenwich Village folk scene - a place they would regularly distract themselves while writing, gazing between the pages of books by Woody Guthrie, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Dylan, and Brontez Purnell.
SUDS might be fresh-faced, but they have the maturity and drive to become one of the most exciting emerging artists of 2023 after conquering sets at 2000trees Festival, The Great Escape, and Truck Festival, as well as sold-out shows with Spanish Love Songs, Pool Kids, and Martha. Their talent for achingly intelligent, relatable lyricism and a heft for devil-may-care creative output already puts them heads above the rest.
And we at The Scene are so excited for this record.
