Gig: Alkaline Trio @ O2 Forum Kentish Town, London

Alkaline Trio by Anne Pfalzgraf

Alkaline Trio brought their ‘Blood, Hair, And Eyeballs’ tour to the UK to play a couple of shows in celebration of the release of their 10th studio album earlier this year, one of which was at the sold-out O2 Forum Kentish Town in London on 26th July.

LOWLIVES

As support for the tour, the trio brought along LOWLIVES, a grunge quartet from California, who got the crowd warmed up with their dark, gritty, '90s-inspired bangers. As only support on the tour, they got to play a slightly longer set which they used every minute of to cramp in as many songs as they could, keeping the crowd on their toes and the energy high. Overall, it was a night filled with punk rock anthems, big hooks, chunky riffs, and an energetic crowd who sang at the top of their lungs and seemed to have had an amazing time.

Alkaline Trio

Known for their big hooks and razor-sharp lyrics, the punk rock legends delivered a fast-paced 20-song set which saw the crowd jumping and singing along, and crowd surfers frequently making their way to the barricade the further into the show it got. Even though the tour celebrates the latest album, they played a good mix of career-spanning songs which was highly appreciated by the crowd who seemingly got more excited with every song. Between songs, the band kept interacting with their audience, asking questions and telling stories which made the show feel more like a gathering of old friends who have known each other for years. Finishing off the set with ‘Stupid Kid’, ‘Private Eye’ and ‘This Could Be Love’, the crowd was left chanting for one more song, which they got in the form of ‘Radio’.
