Of Mice & Men share video for new single “Castaway”
Hard rock powerhouse Of Mice & Men have released the video for the new single “Castaway” giving us a taste of their forthcoming album Tether released 6 October via SharpTone Records.
"Castaway" delves into the theme of yearning for emotional connection with those around us who often withdraw during challenging times. The song resonates with the frustration of being unable to assist them, leaving us with a sense of stagnation and helplessness in the face of their struggles. The track captures the sensation of being frozen in a moment of longing, where the desire to bridge the gap and provide support clashes with the reality of distance and emotional isolation.
The band describes the meaning of “Castaway”:
"It is about longing for connection with the people in our lives who tend to distance themselves when dealing with hardships, and how our inability to help them often feels like we're frozen in time.
Tether marks the eighth album for the quartet, and they've taken complete control of the creative process. The entire album, featuring self-production and engineering, reflects their authenticity. Aaron Pauley handled the mixing and mastering, while Valentino Arteaga contributed his creative touch to the album's artwork. Throughout the record, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, along with Aaron and Tino, pour their emotions into every note, creating a sonic journey through their lives.
Tether tackles heavy topics like depression, anxiety, and isolation, with Of Mice & Men using music to cope and heal. Their unique sound combines rock's uplifting energy with experimental elements, creating an engaging blend. The album is about sticking together with friends, family, and bandmates, providing support even when life gets tough. Tether shows the band's growth, mixing their usual style with new sounds in songs like "Integration," "Warpaint," "Enraptured," and "Indigo." Since 2016, Aaron, Alan, Tino, and Phil have stayed strong, connecting with their fans and overcoming challenges. Their music is relatable, whether in small venues or big festivals, echoing Aaron Pauley's words that "Music is the soundtrack to people's lives."
