Proper. announce new EP ‘Part-Timer’ and release lead single “Potential”

New York-based punks Proper. have announced their upcoming 5-song EP, Part-Timer, coming 8 September via Father/Daughter Records. Alongside the announcement, the band have released the lead single, "Potential".

Part-Timer sees Proper. embracing a theme of transformation, delving into the challenges and growth that come with pursuing a musical career. The EP captures the band's unique blend of alternative rock, emotional punk, and indie rock, showcasing their evolution and maturation as musicians.

The lead single, "Potential," reflects on the notion of untapped promise and the pressure of living up to one's perceived potential. Throughout the EP, the band explores emotional intricacies, aspirations, and the desire to break free from the limitations that come with being seen as just an "opener band."

Front person Erik Garlington says of the song:

"My entire life I've been told I have so much wasted potential. I excelled at school, when I wanted to be there, but didn't walk at graduation. I don't even have a yearbook photo. Then I skipped out on college, even though I had some good schools interested in me for culinary arts. And then, and then, and then... This track is me mulling over the central theme of the record. We simply have too much potential to stagnate and accept being just an "opener band".

Recorded by Brian DiMeglio and mastered by Will Yip. Part-Timer contains a theme of transformation, as the band embarks on a collective journey, vowing to avoid the treacherous grind that often ensnares aspiring musicians. Within the musical landscape of the EP Proper. ask themselves “How many more rungs of the ladder shall they ascend?”
