Episode 19

Last night’s episode of The Scene with me your host Thom with an H, was a musical rollercoaster, a wild ride through the world of alternative music. We had an incredible lineup of bands and artists that kept the energy high and the volume even higher. So, buckle up, as I guide you through this incredible journey!

We kicked things off with a bang, diving right into the vibrant world of alt-rock with "The Great Overgrowth" by SUDS, one of my favourite tracks of the year. It was an absolute gem by one of our favourite bands here at The Scene. What made it even better? SUDS teamed up with Cal Hudson from label mates Other Half to add a unique twist to the track. "The Great Overgrowth" could be found on SUDS' debut album of the same name, set to drop on November 3rd via Big Scary Monsters.

Our opening hour also featured some of my personal favourites: "Hey, Useless" by Quitter and "Joyride (Glad You Found Me)" by BEST EX.

If you couldn't tell that I was a punk kid at heart from the last few tracks, the trio I played left no doubt. First up, we had the incredible "Code Orange" by Sincere Engineer, a track that could be found on my album of the year, Sincere Engineer's Cheap Grills. Following "Code Orange," we had "Blood, Hair, And Eyeballs," the brand new single from scene legends Alkaline Trio, and "Losing What We Love" by Knuckle Puck, which came from their new album released just last Friday.

As we hit the halfway mark in the first hour, it was time for our first unsigned artist spotlight track. This time, we featured Devizes' Nothing Rhymes With Orange with their recent single "Monday."

"That was Nothing Rhymes With Orange with the banging 'Monday.' You could catch them on an absolutely stacked lineup at Burdall's Yard in Bath next Friday, alongside Ingnotis and Feedback.

Up next, I had a trio of pop-punk bangers for you: "Do It Another Day" by CHERYM, "Coffee Break" by Wasting Time, and "Shut Your Mouth" by Millie Manders and The Shutup.

Then I had "Don't Wanna Go Out" by bilingual Welsh rockers CHROMA, from their new album Ask For Angela, named after a national scheme that helps those feeling vulnerable on a night out. Following that, we had Belgian art rockers The Guru Guru's latest single, "In 2073 (Plenty Of Other Fish In The Sea)."

I had another trio of punk bangers: "Better Off This Way" by Spiritual Cramp, "Will Logic" by Militarie Gun, and "Boys In The Band" by Lambrini Girls, who had just released a brand new and very poignant video for the track.

Closing out the first hour, we had "Infinity Worm" by ME REX from their impressive full-length debut Giant Elk.

In the second hour, we cranked up the intensity with tracks from Lake Malice, Kite Thief, Filth Is Eternal, and BEX. Plus, we featured our unsigned spotlight artist, Felicia, with their unique genre-blending track "You Are The Resistance."
