Gig: PVRIS @ Troxy, London
Last Thursday, the atmosphere buzzed at London's Troxy as around 3,000 fans packed out the venue for a trio of genre-bending performances by PVRIS, Scene Queen, and Sophie Powers.
The night kicked off with a dynamic set from Sophie Powers, whose energetic stage presence and genre-blending sound set the tone for the evening. Scene Queen, known for her self-styled "Bimbocore" sound, was up next. Entering to the nostalgic "Barbie Girl" by Aqua, she immediately captivated the crowd. Her set was a riot of energy and colour, featuring tracks like "Finger," "18+," and "Pink G-String." The audience erupted during "Barbie & Ken," especially with a guest appearance from Sam Matlock of Wargasm. Scene Queen’s performance was a powerful mix of metalcore and alt-rock, with her unapologetically feminist lyrics resonating with fans.
When PVRIS took the stage, the crowd’s anticipation turned into sheer exhilaration. Frontperson Lyndsey Gunnulfsen, exuding effortless cool, led the band through a setlist that showcased their evolution from anthemic post-hardcore to sophisticated alt-pop. Opening with "I Don't Wanna Do This Anymore," they powered through hits like "Dead Weight," "Monster," and "Hallucinations," blending high-energy anthems with more intimate moments. The night culminated with an encore featuring "My House" and a surprise duet with Scene Queen on "Goddess."
The evening at the Troxy was a testament to the artistic growth and fearless creativity of PVRIS, Scene Queen, and Sophie Powers. Their performances were not only entertaining but also deeply resonant, leaving fans eager for more. If you have the chance to see them live, seize it—it’s an experience not to be missed.
