Metalcore quintet Cauldron release video for new single “Standing In Awe of A Monument”

Birmingham metalcore quintet Cauldron have released the video for their new single “Standing In Awe of A Monument”, taken from their debut album Suicide In The City, which will be released on 3 November through The Coming Strife Records (UK/EU) and Ephyra Records (US).

The video, directed by Sam Bloor, is a powerful and atmospheric visual representation of the song's themes of loss, grief and transformation. It features footage of the band performing the song live, interspersed with shots of a desolate landscape and a mysterious figure walking through a forest.

Commenting on the track, vocalist Frazer Cassling says:

“Standing in Awe of a Monument is a song about struggling to comprehend something so profound it's almost alien to you. The monument in the title can refer to anything, but in the context of this song, it refers to watching someone that you love turn into something that you no longer recognise. Something that is complex and unbelievable in its strangeness. This was one of the hardest songs on the album to write and went through many different changes before the version you hear now, but this is definitely the song in its most refined form."

Suicide In The City is a concept album based around a group therapy session in Seattle run by the main character of the story, Tristram St. Claire. Interweaving throughout are the stories of characters from the group, making an in-depth tale ladened with the physical and mental struggles of all involved. The concept draws from vocalist Frazer Cassling's experiences and struggles with mental health, portrayed through characters, as he pulled himself through the lowest time of his life.

The album was recorded at Lower Lane Studios by producer Sam Bloor and mastered by Grant Berry at Fader Mastering (Ithaca, Static Dress, Rolo Tomassi). Examining feelings of anxiety, self-worth, grief and mental health struggles, Suicide In The City is a dark record with a powerful message of hope.

Cauldron will hit the road later this year on a run of upcoming UK/EU tour dates
