PVRIS' EVERGREEN: an album that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled

PVRIS

PVRIS have been one of the most exciting bands in the alternative rock scene for the past decade. Their sound has evolved over the years, but their signature powerful vocals, catchy melodies, and dark, atmospheric soundscapes still ring true. Their latest album, EVERGREEN, is their most ambitious and experimental work yet. A wide spectrum of sounds has washed over their discography since PVRIS’ inception and this album follows suit.

This album, the band’s fourth, is a “push and pull” between two opposing modes, as described by lead singer Lyndsey Gunnulfsen. With songs at odds with one another, some boasting in-your-face instrumentals and lyrics, some holding your hand on a journey through different atmospheres and moods, the record still pulls together as one.

EVERGREEN opens with the powerful and anthemic track "Love Is A...". This is followed by the more electronic and experimental track "Goddess". The rest of the album settles into a more consistent groove, with tracks like "Good Enemy", "Animal", and "Hallucinations" all showcasing the band's knack for writing catchy and memorable melodies.

The album closes with the title track "Evergreen", a soaring and hopeful ballad that is a fitting end to the album. The title of the track references the band's desire to create music that is timeless and enduring, which is exactly what they have achieved with this album.

“If you search the definition of ‘evergreen,’ you will find words like: enduring, timeless, fresh, unlimited, and renewal. In our modern culture where everything is online, algorithm-based, and instantaneous, it feels like timelessness, longevity and connection could someday become dying concepts. More than ever, PVRIS has, and always will be anti-formula, anti-virality, and anti-instant gratification” states Gunnulfsen.

The album's lyrics are self-reflective and cut deep into both the band and listeners’ own experiences of love, conformity and redemption. PVRIS have once again proven themselves to be one of the most talented and innovative bands in the alternative rock scene, articulating the things many of us would like to say but don’t know how.

It’s a bold and ambitious statement. The band pushes their sound to new heights, incorporating elements of electronica, pop, and even industrial rock. But even as they experiment, PVRIS never loses sight of their core strengths. The album is full of catchy melodies, powerful vocals, and anthemic choruses.

EVERGREEN is an album that demands to be listened to loud. It's a visceral and exhilarating experience that will leave you breathless. If you're already a fan of PVRIS, then we’re preaching to the choir, but if you're not familiar with the band, EVERGREEN is your opportunity to become acquainted. It's an album that will stay with you long after the credits have rolled.

PVRIS’ new album EVERGREEN is out now.
