Episode 26
Last night’s episode of The Scene with me your host Thom with an H, was a wild journey through the world of alternative music. We had an incredible lineup of bands and artists that kept the energy high and the volume even higher.
I kicked off the first hour with the brilliant new pop-punk banger "It's Not Me, It's You" from Northern Ireland's CHERYM. I kept the pop-punk hits coming with "Take Me With You" by Neck Deep and "OH" by Bronnie.
I kept a punk tinge to everything with two more amazing recent releases, "A Touch Of Hell" by Sincere Engineer and "He's A Man" by Bob Vylan.
Next up I spun some recent punk hits in the shape of "Body Politics" by The Menstrual Cramps, "TERFs Out" by Problem Patterns, and "Famous" by Gen and The Degenrates.
The first half of the show concluded with the first of our unsigned spotlight acts the southwest-based alt-rock trio The Zaffiros with their track "Strain."
I kept the noise levels high with "Hi Hello" by Norwich's Other Half, "Good Guy" by Dream Nails, and "Bic Lighter" by Southampton's MAXWELLTHEBAND.
I then played a pair of bands I had the pleasure of catching live recently at Exchange in Bristol: ME REX with their monster monster moster of a track "Infinity Worm" and their support band Sunny Side Down with the infectious "HELLO KITTY PEZ DISPENSER!"
The emo vibes kicked in with "Rest" by Slow Joy, followed by "Crave" by Paramore, and "Hard For Me" by one of The Scene's fave new bands SUDS.
The first hour wrapped up with Gaffa Tape Sandy's brand new banger "Split."
I started the second hour with the 90’s tinged banger that is Go to Hell by Felicette, followed by All My Plants Have Died by Melanie Baker and Coming Of Age by Van Houten.
Things were then turned up a notch with Judge Judy & Executioner by Kite Thief and Sharkbait by Mouth Culture. I kept the energy high with the banging Freaking Out by EVERY HELL and giant new single from MOTHMAN, THE MAN, Gigantopithecus!
It was then time for the second of our unsigned spotlight acts, and we were in Swindon for Lucky Number Seven's banging Marker Pen. They're playing a trio of live dates this month: The Victoria in Swindon on the 21st, The Lousiana in Bristol on the 30th, and Camden Club in London on New Year's Eve!
The mosh pit continued with Fallout by Sleep Theory, Freaky by Bristol's IMMERSE, and Gaslighter the new single by Continents.
After that, it was time to turn things up even further with Bad Time the brand new single from the legendary Alkaline Trio and DESTROYER by M.A.G.S.
Rounding out the hour was the amazing FB TRAP by the genre-defying Natty Wylah and UNLOVED by HEALTH who just dropped their massive album RAT WARS this week!
The show closed out with a complete jam in the shape of Love Bug by Just Friends.
Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the second hour of The Scene last night! I'll be back next week with more great alt-scene music.
