Episode 27
Last night’s episode of The Scene with me your host Thom with an H, was a musical adventure, a journey through the diverse landscape of alternative music. We had an eclectic lineup of bands and artists, from established veterans to up-and-coming newcomers, who kept the energy soaring and the volume pumping.
We kicked off the show with a blast, diving headfirst into the vibrant world of the alt-scene with "Ambiviolent" by Kite Thief, a track that set the tone for the rest of the night. From there I spun "Still Dreaming" by DREAM STATE and "X My <3 (Hope To Die)" by VEXED.
I then took a more melodic approach with CHERYM's "It's Not Me, It's You" and Sincere Engineer's "A Touch of Hell." These catchy songs were perfect for singing along.
To keep the tempo high, I brought you Church Girls' "Fall Apart" and MAXWELLTHEBAND's "Bic Lighter." These emo-infused bangers got the heart pounding.
I then headbanged along to TWIN SKELETONS' "What You Wanted," the first of my unsigned artist spotlights for the week. This Bath/Bristol-based band brought the noise with their energetic sound.
Moving into the post-punk realm, I spun IDLES' "Grace," Tijuana Bibles' "Slip into the Leather," and BIG SPEICAL's "TREES." These three bands were pushing the boundaries of the genre, creating some truly unique and exciting music.
Up next I kept the bangers coming as I spun ME REX's monster, monster, monster of a track "Infinity Worm" and Felicette's "Palpitations."
After brief hiatus form plying them on the show I played Proper's "Potential" and SUDS' "The Great Overgrowth (Ft. Cal Hudson)".
I closed the first hour with Oceanator's brilliant Part Time.
I started off the second hour with Happiness by The Lonely Surf, followed by Tourist by RedHook and Shut Your Mouth by Millie Manders and The Shutup!
Next, I played "All My Plants Have Died" by Melanie Baker and "Coming Of Age" by Van Houten.
After that, I rocked out to "Sharkbait" by Mouth Culture and the banging "Gigantopithecus" by MOTHMAN, THE MAN!
I then played a pair of tracks I have had a habit lately of playing back to back, "Good Guy" by Dream Nails and "Better People" by New Pagans.
To slow things down a bit, I played "TLC" by Lakes and the brilliant "Bathroom Floor" by Now, Now frontperson KC Rae!
Sadly, we only had time for one more song in this week's episode, so closing out this week's show was the breathtaking "Blemishes" by LIES, the indie rock project of cousins and American Football bandmates Mike and Nate Kinsella.
If you're a fan of alternative music, then you definitely don't want to miss The Scene with Thom with an H. Tune in every Saturday night for the best new tunes and the hottest unsigned bands.
