Episode 41
Last night’s episode of The Scene with me your host Thom with an H, was another banger of a show featuring the likes of Mammoth Penguins, Murder Club, and SeeYouSpaceCowboy as well as unsigned spotlight tracks from Sunny Side Down and Jack Adamant.
I opened the show with “Pulling Teeth” the latest beautiful slice of southwest emo from Slow Joy who will be dropping his latest EP Mi Amigo Slow Joy later in the year. Following “Pulling Teeth”, the first half of the show showcased tunes from SOFT PLAY, Winona Fighter, CLT DRP, and our first unsigned spotlight track, " HELLO KITTY PEZ DISPENSERW by Sunny Side Down, who I had the pleasure of catching open for ME REX last November . Before the news break, I wrapped up the first half with “Class War“ the brand new single from Bristol punks The Menstrual Cramps, who are one of the many great bands that are playing at next week’s Manchester Punk Festival.
Post-news break, I resumed with “Never Did Come Back” by Leeds based shoegazers Van Houten, who dropped their amazing debut album The Tallest Room on Friday and if you haven’t checked it out yet I urge you to so. After "Never Did Come Back," the second half of the show packed punches with tracks from Sweet Pill, Couch Slut, Filth Is Eternal, and our second unsigned spotlight track, “Stuck & Paralysed” by Jack Adamant, if you want to keep tabs on Jack go follow them Jack on his instagram page @jackadamant. Wrapping up this week's show was the brilliant new single “Makes Me Violet” by the amazing Bob Vylan who are about to dominate this year’s festival season. “Makes Me Violent” comes from Bobby and Bobbies forthcoming new album Humble As The Sun that drops early next month.
