Episode 51
Last night’s episode of The Scene with me your host Thom with an H, was another banger of a show featuring the likes of nathy sg, Carly Cosgrove, and Blvck Hippie, as well as unsigned spotlight tracks from Nothing Rhymes With Orange and Big Problem.
I opened the show with the brand new single “Back The Way We Came” from Singaporean band Coming Up Roses. “Back The Way We Came” is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming self-titled EP. Following “Back The Way We Came”, the first half of the show showcased tunes from Los Campesinos!, Other Half, Honey Joy, and our first unsigned spotlight track, “The Ick” by Manchester’s POMONA PARK/ The band are playing a headline show at 33 Oldham Street in Manchester on the 20 July. Before the news break, I wrapped up the first half with the absolutely epic “Scrapbook” by Gaffa Tape Sandy. “Scrapbook” can be found on the band’s new album Hold My Hand God Damn It which came out on Friday.
Post-news break, I resumed with The Menstrual Cramps absolutely brilliant new single “Antagonistic”. “Antagonistic” alongside the band’s other singles released since singing to Alcopop conveniently spell out ACAB. After "Antagonistic" the second half of the show packed the punches with tracks from Tether., Defences, PEOPLEVIOLANCE, and our second unsigned spotlight track, “Transparent Skin” by Emma and the Fragments. Wrapping up this week's show was the completely epic “Lovebites” by Lava La Rue. “Lovebites” is the third single from Lava La Rue’s debut album Starface which comes out next month.
