Episode 17
Last night’s episode of The Scene with me your host Thom with an H, was a jam-packed one, with bangers from the likes of BEST EX, Proper., Militarie Gun, SUDS, ME REX, BEX, Lake Malice, and Haunt The Woods.
I kicked off the show with BEST EX's new track "I Promise To Ruin Your Life," which is a perfect example of the band's indie pop aouns. I've been a fan of BEST EX for a while now, and I'm so excited to see BEST EX getting the recognition they deserve.
After BEST EX, I played a selection of punk bangers from Sincere Engineer, Neck Deep, Militarie Gun, and Proper. Sincere Engineer's new album Cheap Grills is one of my favourites of the year so far, and Neck Deep's upcoming self-titled album is shaping up to be another great one. Militarie Gun is one of the best live bands I've seen in a long time, and Proper. is always putting out quality music.
In the first hour of the show, I also featured my first unsigned spotlight artist, Bristol's HAMARTIA, with their moshtastic track "Broken Back." HAMARTIA is a heavy rock band with a unique sound, and I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on them in the future. If you're a fan of heavy music, be sure to check out HAMARTIA!
I kept the mosh pit going with tracks from Filth Is Eternal, The Callous Daoboys, and Ghost Woman. Though I slowed things as the hour drew to a close with tracks from SUDS, and ME REX.
I kicked off the second hour of the show with everyone’s wonk pop favourites KEG. They're a really exciting live band, and I highly recommend checking them out if you have the chance. I played their track "Quip Quash" on the show, and it's a perfect example of their unique sound.
Things took a bit of a heavy turn when I played friends of the show BEX and Lake Malice as I celebrated last week’s Misery Loves Company Fest.
I then featured the second of our unsigned spotlight artist,s New Zealand's End of an Empire, with their banging track "No Longer Feels Like Home." End of an Empire is an alternative rock band with a great sound, and I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on them in the future. If you're a fan of alternative rock, be sure to check out End of an Empire!
I closed out the show with Haunt The Woods' beautiful track "Said And Done." "Said And Done" is the perfect song to wind down to after a long day.
Overall, it was a great episode of The Scene, with a lot of great music from a variety of genres. I'm already looking forward to next week's show!
