Read this! Read this! Dananananaykroyd announce first ever vinyl Pressing of ‘Hey Everyone!’

Oh, hiya … Glasgow’s chaotic "fight-pop" collective, Dananananaykroyd, have announced the long-anticipated first-ever vinyl pressing of their critically acclaimed 2009 debut album Hey Everyone!—and fans have every reason to get excited. Released via Alcopop! Records, the limited edition pressing hits on 6t December, offering a rare opportunity to own this cult classic on wax for the very first time.

Known for their high-energy blend of punk, art rock, and post-hardcore, Dananananaykroyd's Hey Everyone! is a much-loved gem of the late 2000s British music scene. Bursting with frenetic energy, the album splices genres together in ways that still sound fresh today. Tracks like "Black Wax" showcase the band’s melodic yet unhinged approach, with its soaring chorus and bursts of piano and bells adding a surprising twist to their trademark sound.

The vinyl release comes in a dazzling ‘Pink Sabbath X Black Wax Splatter’ edition, housed in a spot gloss sleeve designed by original artist Keaton Henson. The reissue also includes a bonus track, "Genuine LBS", making this a must-have for long-time fans and newcomers alike. The pressing is strictly limited, and Alcopop! has confirmed it won’t be repressed in this colourway, making it an essential collector's item.

Reflecting on the release, Alcopop! Records boss Jack Clothier expressed his excitement:

“There are albums that shape you. Albums that live with you. Albums that make you who you are. Change your life. This is one of those records. When we were growing up, in the record label sense, and we realised that this thing might actually work—that our tender Alcopop! lemon might bear fruit—I made a little list in my head of the six bands I wanted to work with more than anyone in the world. Dana have just ticked off number 5, and we could not be happier. So, please listen to this album. I don't care if you buy it or not (on delicious pink sabbath X black wax vinyl with glorious spot gloss). Just listen, take a deep breath and find yourself in 2009—when Fight Pop, for a brief and beautiful moment, really did rule the world.”

Dananananaykroyd's debut was a breath of fresh air when it arrived, earning rave reviews from critics and quickly gaining support from the likes of Zane Lowe and Steve Lamacq. Their knack for blending abrasive post-hardcore with quirky pop elements saw them compared to acts like Fugazi and Glassjaw, yet they carved out their own unique space with songs that could whip between frantic chaos and blissful melody in a heartbeat.

For those who missed out on seeing the band live during their prime, this vinyl release is as close as you’ll get to capturing the fevered intensity of their shows, where "moshers and librarians" (as a certain other publication named after a farming tool famously put it) united in joyful chaos. Whether you’re rediscovering old favourites like "Watch This!" or spinning Hey Everyone! for the first time, this reissue is set to deliver a hefty dose of nostalgia—and maybe even a fresh round of head-banging.

Hey Everyone! marked the start of a whirlwind journey for Dananananaykroyd. Following its release, the band toured with Queens of the Stone Age, The Kaiser Chiefs, and Foals, before disbanding in 2011. But their legacy has endured, and this vinyl release feels like the perfect way to celebrate the impact they made in such a short time.

Preorders for the vinyl are already live via Alcopop! Records, and with the band’s dedicated fanbase, it's expected to sell out fast. So, dust off your record player, get ready to scream along to "Totally Bone" and "Infinity Milk", and let Dananananaykroyd transport you back to 2009, when Fight Pop ruled supreme.
