Sad Summer Festival announces 2024 lineup for 5th-anniversary bash

The long-awaited lineup for the 2024 edition of Sad Summer Festival has been officially announced, promising an unforgettable experience for music lovers all over the USA. As the festival commemorates its fifth year, organizers have pulled out all the stops to deliver a lineup that pays homage to its roots while embracing the evolution of the scene.

Since its inception in 2019, Sad Summer Festival has been a beacon of unity for the alternative music community, providing a platform for both established acts and rising stars. Stemming from the ashes of the beloved Vans Warped Tour, Sad Summer quickly carved out its niche, offering a more intimate and curated experience for fans. Now, as it celebrates half a decade of existence, Sad Summer remains steadfast in its mission to foster inclusivity and support for the emo scene.

Headlining the festivities are none other than festival founders Mayday Parade and The Maine, whose impassioned performances have become synonymous with the Sad Summer experience. Joining them are an array of genre-defining acts including The Wonder Years, We The Kings, Real Friends, Knuckle Puck, The Summer Set, HOT MILK, Diva Bleach, Like Roses, and Daisy Grenade, ensuring an electrifying atmosphere from start to finish.

Reflecting on the significance of Sad Summer, Alex Garcia of Mayday Parade shares:

“For most of my adult life, I’ve associated the summer with music festivals; their open-air venues, the mix of tour bus exhaust and heat radiating off asphalt, and, of course, hearing my favorite music at twilight, lit by the flicker of fireflies - Sad Summer epitomizes this experience.”

Echoing Garcia's sentiments, John O’Callaghan of The Maine adds:

“A lot can change in four summers. And for me, a lot has. But a constant throughout the peaks and valleys of the last four summers has been my love for playing music loudly, seeing old faces and making new amigos.”

One of the defining features of Sad Summer Festival is its commitment to providing emerging artists with a platform to shine. Unlike sprawling multi-stage events, Sad Summer opts for a more intimate setting with a single stage, allowing each act to command the spotlight without the distractions of competing schedules.

Mike Marquis, Josh Terry, and Tim Kirch, the festival's co-founders, emphasize the importance of creating an inclusive and independent environment. This dedication has not gone unnoticed, with Sad Summer earning accolades such as Pollstar’s “Top Grossing Tours of 2021” and experiencing a surge in attendance over the years.

Moreover, Sad Summer Festival remains dedicated to its philanthropic endeavours, partnering with organizations such as HeadCount, Reverb, and Calling All Crows to raise awareness for various causes close to the hearts of artists and fans alike. This commitment to social responsibility underscores the festival's broader mission of making a positive impact beyond the realm of music.

As fans eagerly anticipate the kickoff of Sad Summer 2024, pre-sale sign-ups are set to begin on 1 March, followed by the official on-sale date on 8 March. With a lineup that promises to deliver nostalgia, camaraderie, and unforgettable performances, Sad Summer Festival invites music enthusiasts to join in celebrating five years of summer memories.
