Beach Riot reveal new single "Meltdown" set for 10 December release via Alcopop! Records
Brighton’s fuzz-pop favourites Beach Riot are back with their first new track since last year’s singles, "Tramlines" and "Tell Me I’m Wrong". With the absolutely banging "Meltdown", out now via Alcopop! Records, marking a compelling return for the band following a brief hiatus.
Known for their high-energy sound and fuzz-drenched guitar work, Beach Riot continue to hit the sweet spot between raucous indie pop and punchy alt-rock. "Meltdown" keeps true to their roots, combining gritty riffs with melodic sensibilities. It’s a track that balances tension and release, shifting seamlessly from moments of restrained instrumentation into an infectious wall of sound. The vocal interplay between Rory O’Connor and Cami Menditeguy adds an engaging dynamic, blending raw energy with dreamy harmonies.
Speaking about the single, the band shared:
"We’re sorry we’ve been quiet for a while, but hey…life gets in the way sometimes. For your listening pleasure, we present to you: Meltdown. Out now on the ever incredible Alcopop! Records. Thank you so much to everyone who still listens and turns us up loud. It means the world to us. We may be a bit quiet again, we may not…let’s see. We don’t see this as the end, it’s merely just a little pause for now. See you in the pit. Rory, Cami, Jonny xx"
Beach Riot have steadily built a reputation for their hard-hitting, fuzz-laden sound and knack for earworm hooks. Their 2021 debut album, Subatomic Party Cool, garnered praise from fans and critics alike for its explosive energy and tight songwriting. The record featured a string of singles that landed the band on coveted playlists like Spotify’s New Music Friday, The Rock List, and Fresh Finds Rock. Their blend of '90s-inspired fuzz and modern indie-pop flourishes resonated across BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, and Planet Rock, earning airplay from the likes of Jack Saunders, Huw Stephens, and Wyatt Wendels.
With "Meltdown", the band taps into the same unfiltered energy that made their earlier work stand out, offering fans a track that’s both brash and infectious. The song reflects a period of uncertainty and creative recalibration, underscored by its shifting dynamics and lyrical tension.
Beach Riot have previously torn up stages at major festivals, including Reading & Leeds, The Great Escape, and 2000 Trees. Following a run of European dates in 2023 alongside punk outfit Itchy, the band’s reputation for delivering powerhouse live shows remains firmly intact. Whether on record or in the pit, Beach Riot are a band that know how to leave their mark.
