Winona Fighter release video for "Hamms in a Glass" ahead of debut album ‘My Apologies to the Chef’
Nashville punk outfit Winona Fighter have dropped a brand-new music video for their latest single, "Hamms in a Glass," taken from their upcoming debut album My Apologies to the Chef, due for release on 14 February 2025 via Rise Records. Fans in the UK can also look forward to catching the band live next summer as they make their debut at Slam Dunk Festival 2025.
The video for "Hamms in a Glass" encapsulates the band’s raw energy and spontaneity. Shot entirely in one take, it mirrors the chaotic spirit of the song itself. Lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Coco Kinnon described the shoot as anything but conventional:
"The 'Hamms in a Glass' music video is as chaotic as the song. It is completely one take and was totally a ‘fly by the seat of our pants’ type shoot. Jake Johnston over at We’re All Gonna Die did such an amazing job at directing on the fly as we were pretty much trying something different with each take."
Kinnon went on to highlight the connection between this new video and the band’s earlier DIY roots:
"Something extremely special about this music video is that it feels like a call back to our first and only music video we made before signing to Rise—'You Look Like a Drunk Phoebe Bridgers'—a one-take video, which was done with pretty much pocket change. It was so cool being able to elevate the concept while still keeping it flexible and fun."
My Apologies to the Chef promises to deliver on the band’s energetic, no-frills approach to punk rock, featuring previous singles like "Attention", "Swear to God That I’m (FINE)”, and "I’m in the Market to Please No One". Known for their blistering live shows, Winona Fighter aim to bring their brand of raucous, inclusive punk to the forefront with this debut release.
The band’s arrival at Slam Dunk Festival 2025 marks a significant moment for UK fans eager to witness their high-energy performances in person. Set to play Slam Dunk South on 24 May and Slam Dunk North on 25 May, these shows promise to introduce Winona Fighter’s thrashable anthems to a whole new crowd.
Winona Fighter’s roots are deeply tied to Kinnon’s early exposure to the Boston punk scene. Relocating to Nashville, Kinnon joined forces with guitarist Dan Fuson and bassist/producer Austin Luther, creating a sound that’s as relentless as it is inclusive. The band has already built a reputation stateside for their electrifying performances, having shared stages with the likes of Incubus, Motion City Soundtrack, and Badflower, along with standout sets at festivals like Bonnaroo, Riot Fest, and Aftershock.
With the release of My Apologies to the Chef on the horizon and their UK debut firmly locked in, Winona Fighter are showing no signs of slowing down.
