Hot Mulligan drop new single "Fly Move (The Whole Time)" ahead of Riot Fest set
Hot Mulligan have shared their latest track, "Fly Move (The Whole Time)", just ahead of their performance at this weekend’s Riot Fest in Chicago. Alongside the single’s release, the band has also released a brand-new music video for the song, adding further excitement to the vinyl release of their Warmer Weather EP available to pre-order now via Wax Bodega.
"Fly Move (The Whole Time)" features frontman Tades Sanville’s signature introspective lyricism, diving deep into themes of isolation and mental health. “I’ve been toeing the line between antisocial and agoraphobia,” Sanville explains, reflecting on the solitude that inspired the track. “When I’m home alone and all I have to do is not die, that’s more or less all I do. Not die.” The starkness of the lyrics is matched by the band’s unique blend of emotive vocals and punchy instrumentation, making the track a quintessential Hot Mulligan release.
The new single follows “End Eric Sparrow and the Life of Him” and “Stickers of Brian,” both of which are part of the Warmer Weather EP. While the EP is available now for streaming, fans can also pre-order a limited edition bubblegum vinyl, which is set to ship in December.
Hot Mulligan's latest offering comes during a busy period for the Michigan-based band, who have spent much of the past year touring across the US. This weekend, they’ll be hitting the main stage at Riot Fest, performing just before Sum 41 and Fall Out Boy. The band has already played standout sets at festivals like The Wonder Years’ ‘Loneliest Place on Earth’ and Ohio Is For Lovers, with a UK appearance at Slam Dunk Festival confirmed for next year.
Since their formation in 2014, Hot Mulligan have steadily built a reputation for their raw, heartfelt music, earning critical acclaim for albums like Pilot (2018) and you’ll be fine (2020). Their most recent record, Why Would I Watch, was hailed as one of the best emo releases of last year, further cementing their status as a band to watch. With over 140 million Spotify streams and a slew of sold-out shows under their belt, Hot Mulligan continue to prove why they are one of the most exciting acts in the scene today.
