Out of Love release new single “It Is What It Is” featuring Alexisonfire’s Wade MacNeil

Luton’s Out of Love are back with their newest track, “It Is What It Is,” featuring Wade MacNeil of Alexisonfire. Released via Venn Records/Secret Friends Music Group, this fresh single showcases the band’s blend of garage punk, hardcore, and grunge, with MacNeil’s signature grit adding a unique twist to the song. This release marks a key moment as Out of Love gear up for their highly anticipated Tuff Luv EP, set to drop on 29 November.

The track dives into intense emotions, reflecting on a deep, all-encompassing love. Frontman Jack Rogers explains:

“‘It Is What It Is’ is about finding an all-consuming love. Something you’re fully obsessed with and letting it take over your life, for better or for worse.”

Clocking in at under two minutes, the song packs a punch with its dynamic riffs, punchy percussion, and anthemic chorus. MacNeil’s guest vocals add an edge that complements the band’s high-energy style.

The collaboration came naturally, stemming from a previous working relationship between Rogers and MacNeil. Rogers elaborates:

“I’ve known Wade for a few years, since working with him on a song for the Arnold Schwarzenegger Netflix series FUBAR. We had this song written for a while, and whilst recording it, I had been listening to the Black Lungs LP a lot. I could always hear his voice over the second verse and knew it would suit the vibe of the track instantly, so I took my shot and hit him up! He heard the song and said yes!”

This new single is the lead track off Tuff Luv, which features other notable guest appearances, including Ethan Barry of No Relief and Dani Allen of Dry Socket. Rogers reflects on this collaboration-heavy approach, stating, “We had these four singles written we were all stoked on, but they didn’t really sound like anything we had ever done before, and will most likely be the ‘toughest’ sounding stuff we will make as a band. It made sense to invite a few friends from the hardcore scene to lay down some vocals.”

Aside from the original tracks, Tuff Luv also includes a cover of The Kinks’ “Waterloo Sunset,” a nod to the band’s influences as Rogers shares:

“I’ve always been a huge fan of The Kinks. Growing up, my dad would always have them on in the car and at BBQs. I always thought we could do a really cool spin on this track, especially. I love how British it is, and the guitar and vocal melodies are so, so good.”

To celebrate this release and keep the momentum going, Out of Love are already gearing up for their confirmed slot at 2000 Trees Festival in 2025. The band has previously shared the stage with punk scene heavyweights like High Vis, Scowl, One Step Closer, and Tigers Jaw, continuing to build a reputation as a must-see live act.

“It Is What It Is” is a promising taste of what’s to come on Tuff Luv, offering fans a gritty, heartfelt banger that’s sure to resonate in the months ahead. You can check out the new single on all major streaming platforms now.
