Lakes return with emotionally charged new single “Sitches”

Watford-based 'Glock-Rock' outfit Lakes have made a significant return with their brand-new single “Stitches,” released via Big Scary Monsters.

This track marks the first appearance of new members Cat Rowland and Marcus Gooda and promises to take listeners on an emotional journey. Recorded by Tom Hill at The Bookhouse, "Stitches" delves into the complexities of past relationships and the present feelings of loneliness and emptiness.

Vocalist Cat Rowland explains:

"It’s not all doom and gloom though, as it’s also about reflecting on the good times that were had, leaving the listener with the hope that you can grow through the hard times and find love again.”

Lakes quickly gained traction in 2021 with their album Start Again, which showcased their unique blend of math-pop time signatures and dual-vocals, earning them significant praise and a growing fanbase. Lauded by critics, the album was described as “a shining hopefulness at its core” by The Line Of Best Fit, while Washed Up Emo named them “your new favourite band.” Their 2023 follow-up Elysian Skies further solidified their presence in the UK live circuit, culminating in their biggest headline show to date at London’s Moth Club and a supporting slot for American Football during their UK tour.

This summer, Lakes are set to play an extra special show at Goldsmiths SU, sharing the stage with peers Michael Cera Palin, Awakebutstillinbed, ItoldyouIwouldeatyou, and Your Arms Are My Cocoon for what promises to be an unforgettable emo extravaganza.

With a history of turning heads since their emergence from Watford’s DIY scene, Lakes continue to make waves with their innovative sound and heartfelt lyrics. As they prepare for more live shows and new releases, their return with “Stitches” is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
