Friko release single “Get Numb To It!” ahead of debut album release

Chicago-based duo Friko, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Niko Kapetan and drummer Bailey Minzenberger, are ready to shake up the indie rock scene with their latest single, “Get Numb To It!” The track is a thrilling preview of their upcoming debut album, Where we've been, Where we go from here, set to drop on 16 February via ATO Records.

Another song illuminating the immense depth of their musicality, “Get Numb To It!” is a full-tilt, pogo-ready anthem filled with unexpected details, showcasing Friko's musical prowess and knack for crafting unforgettable tunes.

Bailey Minzenberger shares:

“When we recorded that song Niko and I were each on pianos on opposite sides of the room, just slamming on them for texture. There are moments all over the record where we were both improvising at the same time, but they're mostly used in a very subtle way, without making it the main focal point." ”

Formed in 2019, Friko quickly made a name for themselves within Chicago's vibrant indie rock scene. The duo's high-energy live performances and unique sound have captivated audiences across the city's legendary venues such as the Metro, Empty Bottle, and Schubas Tavern.

Self-releasing their acclaimed debut EP Whenever Forever in 2022, Friko made their mark with their distinct blend of raw energy and emotional depth. Their festival debut at Bonnaroo further solidified their status as a band to watch.

With influences ranging from Romantic-era classical music to the primal edges of art-rock, Friko's music transcends boundaries, delivering a sonic experience that's both exhilarating and emotionally resonant. Mastered by Heba Kadry and engineered by Jack Henry and Scott Tallarida, Where we've been, Where we go from here embodies a complexity that mirrors the band's multifaceted inspirations.
