GALLUS release new single “WASH YOUR WOUNDS”

Hot on the heels of their explosive debut album, WE DON'T LIKE THE PEOPLE WE'VE BECOME, Scottish indie-punks GALLUS are back with a brand new single, “WASH YOUR WOUNDS” via Marshall Records.

Fueled by a shared resolve to persevere through tough times and characterized by frontman Barry Dolan's distinctively dark sense of humour, “WASH YOUR WOUNDS” is produced by the band and Blair Crichton of Dead Pony, featuring Tina Sandwich. It stands as another alternative, an angular masterpiece from the Scots.

In Dolan's words:

“The song was inspired by an actual wound on my foot, which required washing every day, so I started saying 'wash-yer-wound' a lot... When I came up with the chorus, it fit in nicely. Obviously, the song isn't literally about washing an infected toe." He adds with a jest, "It's a phrase that more broadly came to mean being stoic in the face of never-ending crises. No matter what, you must wash your wounds and face them head-on.”

GALLUS encapsulates that sense of anticipation, reminiscent of days when responsibilities were few, and opportunity seemed boundless. They blend the energetic bounce of Sports Team, the tongue-in-cheek commentary on contemporary life akin to Yard Act, and the introspection of contemporaries like Fontaines D.C.

Emerging from a Glasgow pub of the same name, GALLUS has risen to the top of Scotland's underground music scene. The band's formation was unconventional; after unsuccessful attempts with their previous musical project, cousins Paul and Eamon Ewins recruited school friend Barry Dolan as their frontman, despite his minimal musical background. It was Dolan's dynamism and energy that drew them, characteristics that became synonymous with the band's identity.

GALLUS quickly gained a reputation for electrifying, occasionally chaotic live performances, filling venues across the UK, Europe, and beyond. They've supported acts like Biffy Clyro and performed at festivals and showcases worldwide, including SXSW, Primavera Sound, and The Great Escape. The band's international acclaim was affirmed when they won the Best Rock/Alternative Category at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in 2022.
