Tether. guard against industry cliques and gatekeepers on their hard-hitting new single "Hollywood Trauma". The track is a standout from their upcoming debut EP Mirror Work, set to drop on 21 June.
Recorded and mixed by long-term producer MyKey Kew at Rogue Recording Studios in London, Mirror Work promises to be a powerful introduction to Tether.’s intense and authentic sound.
Frontman Justin Jackson shares:
“The music industry is a tough place to be. Being in a popular city where it’s so saturated in terms of bands can be telling for anyone trying to pave their way. There are a lot of people in positions of power taking advantage of their privilege, and this often inevitably ends in groups being overlooked or shunned.
This song is about people aesthetically going through the motions in the rock scene; people that are just a part of the whole capitalist spectacle of it all, or have just clawed their way to the top through corruption. Making this song has just been an outlet for frustration and an expression of that. On all levels, no one is free from slipping into this self-serving, detrimental mindset. Writing this almost felt like a note for future selves. Just don’t be a dick.”
Tether. has already been making hype with their lead single "Straight With Me" and follow-up "Meet Me Where The Sun Touches The Sea," both of which garnered support from BBC R1’s Nels Hylton and Alyx Holcombe, received accolades from alternative tastemakers across the board.
The band is set to celebrate the release with a special EP launch show at The Black Heart in Camden on 27 June. Following recent support slots with Dayshifter and Pengshui, this headline performance is a highly anticipated event.
