Thank Sign to Big Scary Monsters and release new Single "Writing Out A List Of All The Names Of God"

Leeds-based noise makers Thank have announced their signing to Big Scary Monsters and have released a highly anticipated new single and video titled "Writing Out A List Of All The Names Of God."

“Writing Out A List Of All The Names Of God,” continues to live up to the high praise they've received. The track, recorded in Scarborough’s Beckview Studios with long-time producer Rob Slater, showcases breakneck, jungle-inspired drumming, discordant guitar lines, and abrasive synth noise, encapsulating the band's signature style. The song is described by the band as “a diss track” with an uneasy urgency, inspired in part by a desperate and hopeless desire to retain precious memories in one's declining years.

The band, known for their distinct fusion of noisy, internet-soaked, dancefloor anthems, has earned a dedicated fanbase and widespread acclaim within the music industry. Thank—comprising Freddy Vinehill-Cliffe (vocals/guitar), Cameron Moitt (bass), Lewis Millward (guitar/synth), and Steve Myles (drums)—has cultivated a cult following with a wide array of devoted fans. Their sound has been described as a wild blend of Pissed Jeans and Lady Gaga, dragging noise rock into the turbulent 2020s with fierce energy.

Speaking about the track, Vinehill-Cliffe shares:

“I think the recorded version might actually be the first time we successfully played the whole thing through. It's a diss track, in response to another diss track – noise rock as a genre needs more diss tracks. It's also loosely based on something I saw pinned up in my grandpa's study one of the final times I visited before he moved to a nursing home; he had handwritten a list of different names used to refer to God, I guess because he had become so forgetful and this was something he specifically didn't want to forget.”

Thank's journey began in Leeds' notorious DIY collective CHUNK, and since the release of their debut full-length "Thoughtless Cruelty" in 2022, along with several EPs and split releases, they have continued to evolve their sound. Their signing to Big Scary Monsters marks a new era for the band, promising more exciting releases and live performances in the near future.

The band is set to perform at this year's ArcTanGent festival on August 14th, along with a new UK/EU tour. With their latest single "Writing Out A List Of All The Names Of God," Thank continues to push the boundaries of noise rock, making a significant step forward in their musical journey. For fans and new listeners alike, now is the perfect time to experience the exhilarating sound of Thank.
