Alt Blk Era drop alt-pop banger "Hunt You Down"
Nottingham-based alt-pop duo Alt Blk Era have delivered a fresh new anthem, "Hunt You Down," accompanied by a striking new video. The track is the fourth single from their highly anticipated debut album, Rave Immortal, set to arrive on 24 January 2025 via Earache Records.
The sisters, Nyrobi and Chaya, have developed a sound that seamlessly blends punchy pop hooks with darker, brooding undertones. "Hunt You Down" explores themes of obsession and disconnection, reflecting Nyrobi’s experience of chronic illness and prolonged isolation during the pandemic. The music carries an undercurrent of frustration and longing, layered over a dynamic production that balances raw intensity with an accessible pop edge. The accompanying video enhances this tone, presenting visuals that complement the track’s darker narrative.
Vocalist Nyrobi explained the inspiration behind the song, saying:
"We often explore uncomfortable topics in our music in the hope that they raise awareness and become conversation starters. 'Hunt You Down' was written on the back of developing a chronic illness during the pandemic, which led to me being bed-ridden and years of isolation. I wanted to explore human interaction of those who have been shut off over a period of time, and how through a need for connection, behaviours can become inappropriate and obsessive."
Alt Blk Era’s growing reputation as one of the most promising alternative acts of 2025 is backed by a series of impressive achievements. Following their sold-out London headline show, hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Alyx Holcombe, the duo continue to win fans across the UK and beyond. Their previous videos have secured airtime on MTV, and the pair have already graced stages at Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, and Download Festival, where their boundary-pushing style earned praise.
The duo’s debut album Rave Immortal promises to be a bold, deeply personal body of work. It draws on Nyrobi’s struggle with illness and the emotional support provided by her sister Chaya, while also celebrating their defiance and creativity in claiming spaces where they’ve been previously excluded. With themes ranging from resilience and rebellion to connection and celebration, Rave Immortal reflects the pair’s ability to transform personal challenges into powerful, relatable music.
Chaya describes the album as a reflection of their bond and individuality: "This album starts as a deeply personal story of the physical and emotional pain that my sister went through when she first became ill. I’ll ride-or-die for my big sis, so when it’s time to be defiant or to be rebellious, or when it’s time to scream, I’m right there too. This is what the album is about for me - our bond, that also respects who we are as individuals."
They’ll then hit the road for their Rave Immortal headline tour this April, with dates including stops in Manchester, London, and Birmingham.
With Rave Immortal on the horizon, Alt Blk Era are proving that their sound and story resonate with fans across the alternative music spectrum. Hunt You Down offers a glimpse of what’s to come: a bold mix of introspection, energy, and sonic depth that’s sure to turn heads in 2025.
