Ain’t share new single "Teething" and announce UK live dates

Emerging London five-piece Ain’t are back with their brooding second single, "Teething," released via Fear Of Missing Out Records. Following up their debut track "Oar," the new single continues to showcase the band’s unique ability to blend elements of ‘90s guitar, post-punk, and shoegaze into something both nostalgic and innovative. “Teething” is out now, and you can watch the accompanying lyric video below.

Having built a feverish reputation with standout performances at events like So Young, Rough Trade, and The Windmill, Ain’t have captured the attention of fans and press alike. Recorded with Oli Barton Wood (known for work with Porridge Radio, Shame, and The Big Moon), "Teething" builds on Ain’t’s dark, hook-driven sound. The track began as a simple guitar motif, with guitarist Ed Randall developing it into something more substantial as fellow bandmates George Ellerby and Chapman Ho suffered the misery of growing wisdom teeth. The song’s themes of throbbing pain and unshakable sorrow come through in both the title and the lyrics.

Hanna Baker Darch’s haunting vocal delivery cuts through the heavy, atmospheric instrumentation, encapsulating the emotions of longing and rejection. The band describes "Teething" as their "creepiest song," with the line “you don’t even notice me from the window” capturing the song’s core theme: the quiet devastation of seeking attention from someone indifferent. “The sting of rejection isn’t sharp,” the band explains, “but a persistent throbbing, like toothache.”

Ain’t have swiftly established themselves as a band capable of balancing introspection with explosive intensity. With influences drawn from both sides of the Atlantic, their music shifts between calm introspection and stormy crescendos, creating a cathartic experience for the listener. Their ability to channel deep emotional resonance while maintaining a raw, visceral sound marks them out as a force to be reckoned with in the UK’s rising indie scene.

After a whirlwind year of performances, Ain’t are set to continue building their live presence with a series of UK shows through the autumn and winter. Their live performances promise to capture the energy and atmosphere of their recordings, making them essential viewing for fans of post-punk and shoegaze alike.+
