ALT BLK ERA share "Straight To Heart" our latest taste of their forthcoming debut album

ALT BLK ERA, the genre-defying sister duo, have dropped their new single "Straight To Heart," the second track from their highly anticipated debut album Rave Immortal, set for release on 10 January 2025, via Earache Records. The track showcases the band's unique blend of emotive melodies, drum 'n' bass grooves, and powerful guitars.

The single is deeply personal for vocalist Nyrobi, who opens up about her struggles with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a central theme throughout Rave Immortal. She describes the challenges she faced during lockdown, battling both physical and emotional pain, and how the song speaks to feelings of loneliness and abandonment. "Straight To Heart" is expected to resonate with anyone who has experienced similar struggles.

Nyrobi commented:

"I became chronically ill during lockdown where I was in constant, excruciating pain throughout my body. Partly due to my illness and partly due to the high-strength pain medication I was prescribed, I existed in a fog of dream-like, whispery moments where I slept for 20 hour days. Over the months and years, in my moments of clarity I noticed that my friends had forgotten about me and as I slowly came out of the fog I was in, they made no effort to reconnect. I was left out in the cold, forgotten about, so I had to deal with both the physical and emotional pain. I was incredibly lonely, and my life was a shell of just existing. This all happened during my teen years, an important time in my life where I was finding out who I was. The lockdowns and then my illness robbed me of important 'normal' teen experiences. The song will connect with anyone who is struggling with, or who has ever felt loneliness, being abandoned or neglected."

To celebrate the album's release, ALT BLK ERA have announced two special album release shows in January:

  • January 25, 2025: Saltbox, Nottingham - Rave Immortal Release Party

  • January 30, 2025: PRYZM, Kingston

Within just a year, ALT BLK ERA has established themselves as one of the most exciting new acts in the alternative music scene. Their debut EP Freak Show earned them critical acclaim and nominations in the 2024 MOBO and Heavy Music Awards. Following their recent performance at Download Festival, where Metal Hammer magazine highlighted them as one of the defining acts, the duo's rise continues with Rave Immortal.

Rave Immortal delves into themes of diversity, inclusion, and overcoming personal struggles. Nyrobi shares her journey of dealing with a disabling illness and the unwavering support she received from her sister Chaya. The album transitions from pain and struggle to defiant energy and celebration, ultimately capturing the duo's pursuit of freedom and joy.

ALT BLK ERA have also been making waves at major festivals, including Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds, and have opened for artists like Tom Morello and Lord Of The Lost. Their music and message have created a safe space for those who live outside the norms, earning them a loyal and diverse fanbase.
