Irish noise rock duo Bicurious have dropped their latest single, "Uncle Kevin," offering a second glimpse into their forthcoming album Your Life is Over Now…, set to be released on 4 October via Big Scary Monsters.
The single follows a standout performance at this year’s ArcTanGent Festival, where the band played to a packed-out tent, further solidifying their growing presence on the European rock scene.
"Uncle Kevin" draws from personal and emotional experiences, as guitarist/vocalist Taran Plouzané explains:
“It’s a very emotional song, speaking to a difficult family situation that someone close to me has dealt with since childhood. It’s a reality for many, and I hope the song offers some comfort to those who’ve experienced similar struggles.” Drummer Gavin Purcell adds, “The outro really hits hard for me, especially with the lyric ‘You'll never be alone.’ It’s tied to a poignant memory of a friend I lost, which shows how music can resonate differently for each person over time.”
Your Life is Over Now... showcases a more lyrical and thematic approach for Bicurious, exploring various aspects of family, including the deep connection they share with their fanbase—who successfully crowdfunded over €9000 to help make this record a reality. Drawing influences from bands like Biffy Clyro, Reuben, and Thrice, the album pushes the duo into new sonic territories while retaining the heavy, rhythmic soundscapes that their fans have come to love.
Bicurious will celebrate the album’s release with a UK and Ireland tour, kicking off in Glasgow on 15 October and wrapping up in Cork on 23 November. Fans can catch their high-energy performances at iconic venues across both countries.
Formed in 2016, Bicurious has steadily built a loyal following through relentless touring and their distinctive blend of math-rock riffs, post-rock progressions, and energetic live shows. Their debut EP I'm So Confused and subsequent releases have earned them critical acclaim and millions of streams, leading to major festival appearances and a reputation as one of the most exciting acts in the European rock scene.
