Dublin/Leipzig-based rock duo Bicurious have announced their second album, Your Life is Over Now..., set for release on 4 October, via Big Scary Monsters. To celebrate, they have shared the first single from the album, "Acrylic Fences," a powerful and raw rock song that delves into relationship struggles and communication breakdowns.
Formed in 2016, Bicurious released their debut singles "Sugar Beats" and "T.O.I" in 2017, followed by the debut EP I'm So Confused in 2018. Their 2021 debut album (re)constructed received critical acclaim, with themes reflecting significant life changes for the band members.
Now, with their new label Big Scary Monsters and the upcoming album Your Life is Over Now..., Bicurious continues to push boundaries and evolve their sound. Drawing influences from bands like Biffy Clyro, Reuben, and Thrice. Unlike their previous work, Your Life is Over Now... features more lyrical content, exploring themes related to the idea of family, including the band's fans who helped crowdfund over €9000 for the record.

Guitarist/vocalist Taran Plouzané expressed his thoughts on the new single:
"I think this is the best song we’ve ever written, and it has a very special place in my heart. It has everything—groove, raw emotion, riffs. The 'Acrylic Fences' refer to the walls one can build around them in a relationship and the narrow-mindedness in trying to break those walls down. As our first fully sung release, I'm curious to see how people react and relate to the lyrics."
Drummer Gavin Purcell added,
"The main tom groove for the song came about after we saw Jamie Lenman at StrangeForms Festival last year. Inspired by his song 'Hardbeat,' we ended up jamming the next day, which led to the creation of 'Acrylic Fences.'"
The band is excited to be partnering with Big Scary Monsters for this release. Bicurious stated,
"We've released all of our music independently until now, but felt these songs deserved a bigger push. BSM felt right from the start, and being on a label with some of our favorite artists like Jamie Lenman and Delta Sleep is amazing."
To promote the new album, Bicurious will embark on a UK/Ireland tour in October and November.
