CARSICK share new single “Gig Tax”

Salisbury indie punks, CARSICK, have released their latest single "Gig Tax" via Alcopop! Records, coupled with an announcement of a string of live dates across the UK and Europe.

The single, which offers a biting critique of the darker sides of the music industry, is now available for streaming and viewing with its accompanying music video.

With their debut EP Drunk Hymns already stirring the punk scene, CARSICK continues to capture the energy and spirit of indie punk with "Gig Tax". The track taps into the band’s personal experiences within the industry, targeting the unsavory characters and exploitative practices they’ve encountered. The band's outspoken narrative discusses the realities young bands face, from being paid in "exposure" to dealing with overblown egos in cramped backstage areas.

Produced by Sam Winfield and Tom Millar at Studio 91 in Newbury, "Gig Tax" encapsulates the quintessential CARSICK sound—energetic, raw, and unapologetically honest. The band’s members, familiar with both the exhilaration and the challenges of the live music circuit, infuse their latest track with authenticity and relatable frustrations.

In a statement, the band expressed their mixed feelings about touring:

"There's nothing we love more than playing shows... but we've also very familiar with the other side of that coin."

This sentiment lays the foundation for "Gig Tax", a song that serves both as a venting mechanism and a rallying cry for artists navigating similar struggles.

CARSICK's summer schedule is packed with performances, starting with a fundraiser in Brighton, multiple headline shows across the UK, and appearances at prominent festivals such as 2000 Trees and Truck Festival. The band’s dynamic live presence, combined with their critical yet catchy tunes, is rapidly cementing their reputation as one of the UK’s most promising new punk acts.

For fans and new listeners, "Gig Tax" is not just a song but a statement—an anthem for those disillusioned by the gloss and glamour often portrayed in the music business. With this release, CARSICK not only solidifies their place in the punk rock landscape but also highlights their commitment to authenticity and artistic integrity.
