Gürl Drops explosive new single "Evil Twin" featuring Bronnie
Gürl, the dynamic alt-rockers known for their genre-bending sound, have just released "Evil Twin," the exhilarating final track from their second EP, Parma Violence is due to drop on 10 May via Circular Wave.
“Evil Twin” features emo TikTok sensation Bronnie, the single is a pop punk tour de force with electric Queen-like harmonies and a striking guitar solo that pays homage to the flamboyant era of pink lycra.
The song, accompanied by a vividly creative music video, plunges listeners into a satirical world inspired by 1950s conservative America. Set in a seemingly idyllic suburban dream, the video reveals a sinister twist, showcasing Bronnie as the unsuspecting Avon lady who stumbles upon the band’s dark secret. Directed by Sam East, the video complements the track’s thematic richness and punk energy, infusing it with a blend of humor and cinematic flair.
Josh Dalton, the band's vocalist and lyricist, shares a light-hearted take on the track's inspiration:
"I wish I could tell you the song was about the duality of man or something, but it’s not that deep; it's actually inspired by that episode of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror about Bart's evil twin. It’s a real Prestige situation haha."
"Evil Twin" stands out not only for its catchy hooks and robust production but also for its engaging narrative that captures the essence of Gürl's inventive and rebellious spirit. The track is an apt finale for 'Parma Violence', an EP that promises a wild ride through themes of horror, extravagance, and a nostalgic nod to '90s pop culture.
Parma Violence lives up to the expectations set by the band's eclectic musical influences, ranging from the heavy-hitting sounds of Bring Me The Horizon to the pop sensibilities of Taylor Swift, all while maintaining a unique edge that is distinctly Gürl.
