Sans Froid announce debut album ‘Hello, Boil Brain’
Bristol-based progressive art-rockers Sans Froid have announced their highly anticipated debut album, Hello, Boil Brain, set for release on 13 September.
Alongside this exciting news, the quartet has released the new single "Planket," now available on all major digital platforms. The new single, accompanies a creatively crafted video directed by Kenzie Hanifan, providing a visual feast that complements the track's introspective lyrics and intricate melodies. "Planket" dives into the joys of a peaceful night at home, celebrating the solace found in solitude and simple pleasures.
Vocalist Aisling Rhiannon talks about the singles themes:
"For me, 'Planket' is about finding happiness in the quiet moments at home, away from the bustling nightlife. It’s a song that cherishes the warmth of companionship and the personal freedom of enjoying one's own company with a cup of tea and a reflective walk."
This release marks a new chapter for Sans Froid, who have evolved from their earlier days in Leeds as a duo named Pave, expanding their lineup and refining their sound to produce a record that promises to blend elements of progressive rock with experimental art music. The album Hello, Boil Brain was produced, engineered, and mixed by Ben Green and mastered by Stephen Kerrison, featuring a bold mix of sounds that challenge the conventional boundaries of rock music.
Fans can catch Sans Froid live as they embark on a UK tour with fellow Bristol proggers ANTA, including stops in Sowerby Bridge, Lincoln, Worcester, London, and Bristol, culminating in a performance at this year's ArcTanGent Festival on 16th August.
The band's journey to their debut album has been a melding of musical and personal growth, reflected in their dynamic and innovative sound that draws comparisons to Radiohead and The Mars Volta, yet with a distinct identity that resonates with the modern progressive scene.
