CHIEFLAND release new single "Bad Move" featuring Christine Goodwyne from Pool Kids

German emo group CHIEFLAND has just unveiled their latest single, "Bad Move," featuring Christine Goodwyne from the U.S. band Pool Kids. The track is a follow-up to their recent single "Blame" and offers another glimpse into their upcoming EP, Sentiment Valley, set to drop on 8 November.

"Bad Move" captures the essence of modern emo-rock, blending powerful vocals, tense guitar riffs, and rhythmic drumming to create a haunting atmosphere. The song explores themes of loss and the pain of longing for the past.

As lead vocalist Christopher Hiller explains:

"It’s a song about loss, that feeling that consumes you and won’t let go. You long for what once was—and with that, for the impossible. Because that state will never return."

The track also features a collaboration with Christine Goodwyne, the lead singer of Florida’s math-rock-emo band Pool Kids. The connection between the two bands formed after CHIEFLAND attended a live show of Pool Kids in Hamburg while they were touring with La Dispute. Bassist Lucas Keitel recalls, "We saw them live and were totally impressed by the band’s energy. We were even more excited when Christine agreed to feature on our track."

For the production of Sentiment Valley, CHIEFLAND enlisted the expertise of Alan Day from Four Year Strong, further refining their evolving sound that blends elements of emo, alternative, and post-hardcore.

Formed in 2015, CHIEFLAND has become a prominent name in Germany's emo and alternative scene, having released two albums and three EPs to date. Despite being spread across various cities like Leipzig, Hamburg, Halle, and Göttingen, the band has managed to thrive, playing over 150 shows, including supporting acts like Being As An Ocean, Acres, and Holding Absence. Their blend of emo, shoegaze, and post-hardcore has garnered international attention, with their previous single "Know That I’m Alive" surpassing 100,000 streams organically. With Sentiment Valley, CHIEFLAND promises to continue their sonic evolution, delivering a blend of raw emotion and atmospheric emo rock.
