Esme Emerson annouce new EP ‘Big Leap, No Faith, Small Chancer’

British-Chinese sibling duo Esme Emerson announces their eagerly awaited EP, Big Leap, No Faith, Small Chancer, slated for release on 28 June via Communion Records.

The EP promises a blend of gentle melodies and electronic elements, drawing comparisons to the likes of Big Thief, Now, Now, and Slow Pulp. Alongside the announcement, they dropped their latest single, “Show You (Truck Song)”, a heartfelt track exploring themes of love, self-worth, and vulnerability.

Talking about the track Esme shares:

"Show You is not only a 'Truck Song', but a love song. It's about wanting to prove to someone that you are enough, and perhaps also trying to convince yourself of the same thing. It's a song about how easily insecurities manifest when your feelings are taken for granted, and how a lack of self-worth grants permission to be overlooked. It's about a desperation to be loved, wanting to show that in good time you swear you'll make it worth their while and promise effort as a testimony to your words."

The EP reflects on a year of growth for Esme and Emerson, capturing the complexities of adolescence and young adulthood. "It's a sincere reflection and a creative manifestation of both our insecurities and our growth," they explain.

Esme and Emerson Lee-Scott, finding solace in their shared musical bond, began writing songs together during Emerson's final year at university. Their creative synergy and vulnerability shine through in their music, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into their world.

Esme Emerson is set to embark on a series of UK shows in May, including two nights at The ICA in London supporting Jasmin Jethwa, followed by a tour with The Japanese House, with sold-out dates in Glasgow, London, and Manchester.
