Fast Blood drop new single “Salvation”

Newcastle indie-punks FAST BLOOD have released their latest banger, "Salvation," complete with a compelling new video. The track d is a vibrant precursor to their debut album Sunny Blunts, which is set to drop on 3 May via Sangre Rapida.

The band's new release showcases a blend of pop-infused punk with anthemic vocals and catchy guitar riffs, underpinned by vigorous drumming and robust bass. Despite its energetic hooks, "Salvation" delves into introspective themes with vocalist Abi Barlow exploring personal turmoil and seeking mental clarity, reflected in the poignant refrain, "give me salvation, I don't know my own mind."

Produced by Chris McManus at Blank Studios in Newcastle Upon Tyne and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios in Western Massachusetts, USA, Sunny Blunts promises to be a potent mix of hefty, soulful tracks. It is described by the band as their most ambitious project yet, featuring a diverse collection of songs each marked by their unique impact and depth.

Commenting on the track, the band say:

“Commenting on the track, the band say: "'Salvation' is an unstoppable burst of energy that takes you through numerous twists and turns in its four minutes, maybe a little poppier than its predecessor, with an anthemic lead vocal and super-catchy guitars held up by frantic drums and a rock-solid bass anchor."

Having solidified their presence in the North East's DIY punk scene since 2019, FAST BLOOD's energetic performances draw inspiration from a mix of 90's midwestern indie, emo, hardcore, and garage punk, reminiscent of bands like Descendents and White Lung. Lead singer Barlow's commanding North-East accent delivers lyrics that range from the overtly political to the deeply personal, supported by a dynamic rhythm section led by drummer Dave Allen, known for his work with hardcore bands VOORHEES and NATTERERS.

The anticipation for Sunny Blunts is high, especially following the band's sold-out album release show scheduled for 5th May at Cumberland Arms, Newcastle. Fans of the band have much to look forward to this summer, with FAST BLOOD set to appear at a series of live dates and festivals alongside acts like Good Grief and bigfatbig.
