Blvck Hippie are lacing up their skates with “Silent Disco”

Blvck Hippie, the indie-punk band from Memphis, TN, is sparking excitement with their new single "Silent Disco," freshly dropped from their forthcoming album Basketball Camp set for release on 14 June via The Record Machine label.

Described by frontman Josh Shaw as "the only love song I've ever written," "Silent Disco" reflects a personal moment of serendipity at a live show, capturing a nostalgic vibe that Shaw likens to the soundtrack of his childhood. This unique track blends elements of indie and punk with an introspective twist, showcasing the band's ability to fuse diverse sounds into a cohesive musical experience.

Blvck Hippie has scheduled an extensive tour to support the release of Basketball Camp, hitting venues across the U.S. this spring and summer. The tour itinerary promises a compelling live rendition of the new album, with dates spanning from Carbondale, IL to New Orleans, LA. This follows the success of their debut album If You Feel Alone at Parties, which was lauded for its emotional depth and lo-fi charm.

Recorded in a home studio in Binghamton, Memphis, and later refined by Greg Giorgio, known for his work with major acts like PUP and The National, Basketball Camp promises to be an evolution of Blvck Hippie's sound. The album features a variety of musical styles, from twinkly Midwest emo to early-aughts indie rock, all woven together with Shaw's introspective lyricism.

The upcoming album not only reflects Shaw’s personal growth and the band's maturation following extensive touring but also nods to the rich musical heritage of Memphis. This is highlighted by contributions from a choir of local artists, adding a communal spirit to the album’s narrative.

Fans eager for the full experience can mark their calendars for 14 June for the release of Basketball Camp, and catch the band live at any of their upcoming tour dates for a firsthand experience of their dynamic and genre-defying performances.
