Fresh share title track of new EP ‘Merch Girl’
UK indie-pop punk outfit Fresh are back with a bang, sharing their latest single "Merch Girl" from their upcoming EP of the same name, slated for release on 19 April via Specialist Subject Records.
The energetic track offers a taste of what's to come from this dynamic quartet as they continue to carve their path in the music scene with their infectious blend of indie-pop melodies and punk-rock attitude.
Merch Girl EP track list:
“Merch Girl”
“Easy”
“Long Long Time” (Linda Ronstadt Cover)
Lead singer Kathryn Woods sheds light on the inspiration behind "Merch Girl":
“Merch girl is about living in that space between wanting something and achieving something. It's kind of a character song, about somebody that is involved in music - but not in the way that they want to be, and they're frustrated by that. At the beginning of the song, they're watching from the sidelines, but as the song progresses they make the decision to create their own art. It's a bit tongue-in-cheek, drawing from clichés of the wallflower, the sidekick, but ultimately it's empowering and a reflection on the ways that we come into our own as women artists.”
As a prelude to the EP release, Fresh will embark on a UK tour in March alongside New Jersey power punks Teenage Halloween, followed by a US tour in June with Cardiff legends Los Campesinos! The Merch Girl EP promises not only the titular single but also includes stripped-back B-sides "Easy" and a cover of Linda Ronstadt's "Long Long Time."
Known for their unwavering presence in the UK punk scene since their inception in 2017, Fresh has shared stages with acclaimed acts like The Beths, PUP, Adult Mom, and Jeff Rosenstock. With three albums, an EP, and a string of electrifying performances under their belt, Fresh continues to evolve and captivate audiences with their infectious energy and catchy melodies. Stay tuned for more fresh tunes from this dynamic outfit.
