Hello Mary share new single "0%" and announce debut UK headline show

Hello Mary, the New York-based indie rock band comprised of Helena Straight, Stella Wave, and Mikaela Oppenheimer, have shared their banging new single “0%” via Frenchkiss Records.

Known for their ‘90s-inspired grunge-pop sound, Hello Mary pushes their style into heavier, more distorted territory with this release. The track is characterized by spun-out guitars, a heavyweight bassline, and thundering punk drums, marking it as the band's most daring statement yet. This evolution follows their well-received sophomore self-titled LP from last year, which earned them critical acclaim and opportunities to open for notable acts like American Football and Silversun Pickups.

“0%” quickly became a live favourite among fans, capturing the raw energy and emotional intensity that define Hello Mary’s performances. The song originated from jam sessions in the band’s practice space and truly came to life in the studio. Notably, it features drummer and vocalist Stella Wave’s first time screaming on a track. The powerful shout vocals add to the song's cathartic climax, which culminates in a storm of blissed-out noise before transitioning into a playful breakdown featuring vibraphone and triangle.

The band expressed their excitement about the new release, stating:

“0% is one of our favourites to play live. Our inspirations in the last year have broadened, and we feel like this song reflects that.”

This track represents the band's growth and their willingness to explore new sonic landscapes while maintaining their distinctive sound.

In addition to releasing new music, Hello Mary is set to embark on a series of live performances that further solidify their reputation for electrifying shows. The band will headline their first UK show at the iconic Brixton Windmill, announced today. They are also scheduled to support American Football on select UK dates, adding to their busy summer tour schedule. This follows their ongoing tour in the United States, where they have been supporting Silversun Pickups, including notable stops like Brooklyn Steel on 27 June.

Hello Mary has earned praise from prominent music publications, with Rolling Stone calling them “sharp and self-assured,” and Brooklyn Vegan highlighting their promising debut full-length album as steeped in ‘90s grunge-pop. Alternative Press commended the trio as one of the coolest acts to emerge from NYC in recent years, while Paste Magazine noted their resilience and strength as a band.

The band’s live dates reflect a mix of headline shows, festival appearances, and support slots with established acts, demonstrating their rising popularity and demand. Their schedule includes performances at the Underground Music Showcase in Denver, Wicker Park Music Festival in Chicago, and the Best Friends Forever Festival in Las Vegas.
