Lawi Anywar releases new single, “I See You”

Lawi Anywar, the enigmatic talent whose funky beats first caught our attention at last year's ArcTanGent Festival, has unveiled his latest musical gem: "I See You." The track, now available on all major streaming platforms via Fruit Machine.

Recorded and produced by Dom Mitchison at Humm Studios and mastered by Shawn Joseph at Optimum Mastering, "I See You" is a soul-stirring experience for listeners, delving into themes of recognition and understanding.

Speaking about the single, Lawi Anywar shares:

“I chose to release ‘I See You’ first as I think it's the closest I've got to representing the middle points I hear between my influences that are seemingly disparate, but share common ground on further listens.

The groove is inspired in equal parts by the work of Tony Allen and the drum programming of Radiohead. I was aiming for something that felt at once robotic, but a bit "off", like an unquantized drum loop. And the rest of it just fell into place, into this swirling sad man bossa nova type thing.”

Lawi's unique blend of genres, and his ability to infuse heartfelt emotion, are what first intrigued our ears from the Elephant in the Bar Room stage on the last day of last years ATG Fest. His release ‘The Laugher & One’ last year, plus some Instagram DM banter, solidified our earnest belief that this is a talent to watch.

"I See You" serves as a tantalising preview of what's to come from Lawi Anywar, who promises of more releases on the horizon. As he continues to captivate us with infectious rhythms and soulful melodies, Lawi solidifies his position as one of the most exciting talents navigating an intricate fusion of contemporary music.

We urge you all to have a listen to “I See You” on all your favourite streaming platforms, watch the visualiser, and stay tuned for everything coming next. Because we’re very excited by it.
