Mouses announce long-awaited return with new album "bwywtb"

Billingham's own lo-fi garage queer-punk duo, Mouses, are back and better than ever! After a seven-year hiatus following their debut album, the dynamic duo—comprised of guitarist/vocalist Steven Bardgett and drummer Nathan Duff—is thrilled to unveil their highly anticipated second album, "bwywtb," set for release on 21 June.

To kick things off, Mouses has dropped an electrifying AA single featuring the tracks "Illusion" and "Nostalgia." Dive into the captivating sounds of Mouses as they explore themes of identity, estrangement, and parental divorce.

"Illusion" showcases Mouses' signature style with its fuzzy, frenetic energy and introspective lyrics. Bardgett delves into the complexities of growing apart from a parent and the emotional turmoil that accompanies such a journey.

Meanwhile, "Nostalgia" packs a punch with its distorted garage punk sound and raw, visceral lyrics. Bardgett bares his soul as he reflects on the trauma of parental divorce and the lasting impact it has had on his life.

Commenting on the track, Bardgett says:

“At its lyrical core, 'Nostalgia' deals with the sugar-coated notions of nostalgia, tackling the trauma that stems from parental divorce at a young age. The song is deeply personal, wearing its vulnerability on its sleeve, questioning feelings of loss, grief, guilt and ultimately shame in childhood naivety.”

Known for their raw, energetic live performances and fearless approach to tackling societal norms, Mouses has earned a devoted following and critical acclaim. From Reading and Leeds Festival to DIY EP releases and support from BBC Radio, Mouses continues to push boundaries and defy expectations.
