Kierst drops enchanting single “Southern Star”

Brooklyn-based artist Kierst captivates listeners once again with the release of her latest single, “Southern Star,” out now via Sad Club Records.

A spellbinding composition that echoes with emotional depth and quiet assurance. Following the success of her acclaimed Thud EP.

Crafted during a period of heartbreak, “Southern Star” emerged as a stripped-down demo on Bandcamp three years ago, waiting for the right moment to fully blossom. In 2022, Kierst and her band breathed life into the track during live performances before heading to Jonathan Schenke's (Parquet Courts, Snail Mail) Living Rooms Studio in Ridgewood Queens this January for a transformative recording session.

The song unfolds with dreamlike elegance, guided by lush arrangements and Kierst's haunting vocals, which take center stage. The narrative reflects on the passage of time, the impact of collaboration, and the emotional metamorphosis the song has undergone.

Kierst shares her sentiments, stating:

“I wrote this a long time ago when I was really heartbroken, there's no other way to put it. But years have gone by, and the song has gone through countless versions and been transformed by people I hold dear – and in that way, it means so much more to me now than ever before.”

Kierst's ability to convey vulnerability through her music has become a trademark, evident in the gripping fragility of “Southern Star”. The single is a testament to the artist's growth and the collective energy poured into its evolution.

As Kierst continues to enchant audiences with her evocative sound, “Southern Star” serves as a precursor to more musical revelations. Stay tuned for the unfolding chapters of Kierst's artistic journey, as she solidifies her place as a distinctive and resonant voice in the music scene.
