Lambrini Girls share new video for “Boys In The Band”

Lambrini Girls the Brighton-based duo of Phoebe Lunny (Vocals/Guitar - she/they) and Lilly Macieira (Bass - she/they) have released a new video for their song “Boys In The Band”.

The video highlights facts about assault towards women in the UK:

  • Throughout the UK, only 1 to 8% of sexual assault cases end in conviction.

  • An average 1 to 4 women in the UK have experienced sexual assault.

  • 40% of women have experienced harassment at a concert or festival.

Only 1 to 8% of sexual assault cases in the entire fucking country result in a penalty and if that isn’t enough, in the last 8 years, 113 officers of The Met Police were charged with SA and violence

Alongside the track, Lambrini Girls have released a limited edition longsleeve with 100% of the profits going to Refuge, Rape Crisis, and Safeline charities.

“Boys in the Band” confronts SA and abuse in the music scene. For the video the band recruited Bristol-based director Harry Steel. Despite being exhausted after a festival, Lambrini Girls pushed through to film their music video for "Boys In The Band". With only a handful of people showing up, they embraced the concept of invisibility by performing in the midst of an indifferent crowd. Using makeshift equipment and battling physical discomfort, they created a powerful visual representation of the song's message.

Talking about “Boys In The Band” and the new video the band said:

“We’ve been planning the release of this music video for a while and the recent events in the media just confirmed its relevance further. Our song, Boys in the Band- is about SA and abuse in the music scene. The recent influx of conversations of abuse culture, comes down to another bombshell revelation in pop culture when another celebrity turns out to be a nonce. However, we need to be shouting about this constantly. Opening conversations about abuse culture is appropriate, all the time because this happens, all the time.
