Other Half release new double single ahead of UK tour
Norwich-based punk band Other Half have released a new double single, "Hi, Hello / Midnight Visitors" via Big Scary Monsters.
Other Half, consisting of Cal Hudson, Alfie Adams, and Soapy Porter, met through their shared love of the UK DIY punk scene and a willingness to travel long distances to shout at people and eat vegan slop (or so they say). Their new double single, "Hi, Hello / Midnight Visitors," were recorded during the Soft Action sessions, but exist in a world of their own: two creepy, crawly tales of nighttime betrayal and uninvited guests.
Talking about the track’s vocalist/guitarist Cal Hudson said:
"Hi, Hello' is my stab at a little 3 minute Neo-Noir, complete with a vague, brooding, one-sided phone conversation as a chorus. Catchy stuff. It's got one of the prettier Other Half moments towards the end with a synth-washed coda that see's us at our most emo. Big Soapy Porter baseline on that bit too.
Midnight Visitors' is a stark opposite, swapping all that knotty picking for big, daft rock with a capital R riffing and a lean 1 minute 13 runtime. It documents a time in my life when I first moved out and had a series of very unwelcome guests coming in and out of my house during the witching hours. It kinda makes me glad I'm back living with my mum at 31."
On top of the new music, Other Half are set to embark on a UK tour in November with select shows supporting Cassels and Hotline TNT, stopping in Bury, Sunderland, Sheffield, Newcastle, Manchester and Oxford.
