Plutocracy Planet announce star-studded debut album

Plutocracy Planet, the revolutionary experimental sociopolitical
art-core super-collective spearheaded by former Alarm Magazine editor Scott Morrow, are set to release their star-studded debut album 12 July.

The groundbreaking album, which promises to push boundaries and challenge norms, boasts an impressive lineup of more than two dozen esteemed vocalists and instrumentalists from various musical genres.

The project, born out of the pandemic shutdown and fueled by a desire to confront the world's societal ills, combines post-hardcore elements with electronics, polyrhythms, and a diverse instrumental palette. With themes revolving around greed, inequality, and the omnipresent influence of money in politics, Plutocracy Planet's debut LP offers a compelling commentary on contemporary issues.

The lead single "This Very Severity," featuring emo legend Bob Nanna (Braid, Hey Mercedes), sets the tone for the album, serving as a poignant reflection on our fractured reality and an increasingly dystopian future. The accompanying music video, premiered by BrooklynVegan, underscores the song's powerful message.

Joining Nanna on the album are an array of luminaries from the music world, including Jonah Matranga (Far, Gratitude), Matt Pryor (The Get-Up Kids), Mike Kinsella (American Football), Liam Wilson (The Dillinger Escape Plan), and Rody Walker (Protest the Hero), among others. Each track on the LP features collaborations with different artists, resulting in a rich tapestry of sound and perspective.

Despite facing personal challenges, including a life-threatening injury in 2021, Morrow remained steadfast in his commitment to completing the project. His resilience and determination, coupled with the unwavering support of his collaborators, have culminated in the creation of a truly groundbreaking musical endeavour.

Reflecting on his journey, Morrow expresses gratitude for the opportunity to work with such esteemed musicians:

"It's unbelievable to me that I get to work with the people on this album. I've been a fan—in many cases a super fan—of many of them for 20 to 25 years. It's a mind-blowing honour that they said yes, and I still don't really know how the hell I convinced them."

Produced by singer-songwriter Mark Rose of Spitalfield, the album is slated for release on July 12 on vinyl and digital platforms. With a tracklisting that spans themes ranging from police brutality to the cult of personality, Plutocracy Planet promises to deliver a thought-provoking and immersive listening experience.
