The Menstrual Cramps release new single "Abortion" and announce UK headline tour

The Menstrual Cramps, the fearless punk outfit hailing from Bristol, are making a bold statement with the release of their latest single, "Abortion," available now via Alcopop! Records. The track, accompanied by a lyric video, addresses the band's commitment to championing abortion rights and sparking conversations around reproductive freedom.

Building on the momentum of their 2023 Alcopop! debut single "Body Politics," The Menstrual Cramps are set to embark on a series of headline dates across the UK in March 2024.

Vocalist Emilia Elfrida shares the inspiration behind "Abortion":

“I wrote the song “Abortion” when debates started happening in the run-up to the Roe v Wade overturn in America. This song is a response to archaic rules surrounding abortion, breaking taboos, and fighting for everyone's right to have abortions.”

The Menstrual Cramps have always been a band unafraid to tackle societal issues head-on. Formed in a broken bedroom in Bristol, their debut album, "We're Not Ovaryacting" (2017), rallied against injustice, calling to 'Save the Badgers' and 'Cull the Tories.' The band's music video for "My Bush Ain't Ur Business" faced removal from YouTube, highlighting the challenges they've faced in reclaiming autonomy over their bodies.

The band's 2019 album, Free Bleedin', featured impactful tracks like "The Smash," "No Means No," "Idols," and "I Like That Top." Their unwavering stance on social and political issues earned them recognition.

As The Menstrual Cramps gear up for 2024, they continue to champion their unique brand of punk activism. Stay tuned for further new music and live dates to be announced in the coming months.
