Owen shares two new singles "Virtue Misspent" and "Hit and Run"

Owen, the solo project of the highly influential songwriter Mike Kinsella, shares two mesmerising singles from the forthcoming album The Falls of Sioux. Set to release on 26 April via Big Scary Monsters, the album promises a captivating journey through Kinsella's evocative musical landscape.

The singles, "Virtue Misspent" and "Hit and Run," showcase Kinsella's mastery of storytelling and songcraft, offering listeners a taste of what's to come. "Virtue Misspent" pays homage to New Order, blending intricate guitar melodies with synth strings to create a nostalgic yet fresh sonic experience. Meanwhile, "Hit and Run" delves into deeply personal territory, evoking raw emotions and introspection.

Directed by Alec Basse and Max More, the music video for "Virtue Misspent" captures the essence of the song, exploring themes of nostalgia, friendship, and the passage of time. Drawing inspiration from their own experiences, the directors craft a visual narrative that resonates with viewers on a visceral level.

Music video directors Basse and Moore aimed to emulate their own visceral reaction upon hearing “Virtue Misspent”:

"Listening to the song feels like that last look at your past and the roller coaster of emotions that can follow. A taste of the universal nostalgia that we all experience," share the directors. "To visualise that emotion, we aimed to recreate the adventures of our own youth. An amalgamation of all of the fond memories and perfect days experienced in the Midwest. A bit of boyhood wonder, a little rebellion, and a touch of genuine friendship. To capture these illusions we basically just let the boys play. We created these scenarios and then told them to let loose, have fun. Luckily the boys were excellent and we ended up with something that we think resonates and feels honest."

The Falls of Sioux represents a new chapter in Kinsella's musical journey, pushing boundaries and exploring new sonic territories. Co-produced by Sean Carey and Zach Hanson, the album features contributions from a talented ensemble of musicians, including Now, Now's KC Dalager and Russell Durham.

Thematically, the album reflects Kinsella's journey through life-altering turmoil into brighter days. While previous albums laid bare his darkest moments, "The Falls of Sioux" offers a more hopeful perspective, infused with self-acceptance and resilience.

With its intricate instrumentation, heartfelt lyrics, and poignant storytelling, The Falls of Sioux is poised to be a standout addition to Kinsella's acclaimed discography. As Owen gears up for a series of live performances in support of the album, fans can expect to be taken on a captivating musical journey that transcends boundaries and resonates deeply with the human experience.
