PEOPLEVIOLENCE share latest single "ON THE SPOT"

Toronto x Brooklyn collective PEOPLEVIOLENCE have dropped their latest single "ON THE SPOT" the innovative single defies genre conventions, weaving together elements of 90s emo, poeticism, and heavy post-hardcore influences.

Featuring collaborative contributions from Erik of Proper. and garbageface, "ON THE SPOT" showcases the diverse talents within the music community. These collaborative efforts add depth and dimension to the track, elevating it to new heights of artistic expression.

Guitarist and vocalist, Jon, shares the deeply personal inspiration behind the song, revealing:

"This song was written at a time where I was very suicidal, following on the heels of an attempt. Nothing made much sense and I never really left my room for weeks. I hadn’t written anything in years and this sorta flowed out and got shelved till now."

Jon's candid honesty shines through in the lyrics, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into his inner struggles and triumphs.

Delving into themes of racial identity and self-acceptance, Jon reflects on his own journey, stating:

"For most of my life I resented my skin colour. As a child I so very wished I had lighter skin because of what I was seeing. Even into my adult life, getting called slurs on stage and lumped into a category simply because of the way I looked. You know how sad it is for a child to feel that way about themselves? That feeling is pumped into this song. Everything I do is to help other people who have/had those feelings feel less alone."

With "ON THE SPOT" PEOPLEVIOLENCE continues to push boundaries and defy expectations, establishing themselves as pioneers within the music industry. Comprised of Jon, Kai, Stephen B, and Drn Z, the band brings a wealth of experience from their previous endeavours with Toronto’s Pseudo.
