Sam Akpro drops new single, "Chicago Town,"

Sam Akpro returns with a new single, "Chicago Town," out now via ANTI-. Known for his eclectic fusion of styles and eras, Sam Akpro continues to push musical boundaries, crafting a unique sound that resonates deeply with listeners. His latest track is a dream-like journey through the mind’s darker corners, balanced by a heavy, psychedelic descent. This dichotomy has cemented him as one of this year’s most intriguing artists.

Co-produced with Shrink and Finn Billingham, and enriched by his band, the track is steeped in the spirit of friendship and the South London community where Sam was born and raised. The hypnotic energy and sharp edges of "Chicago Town" reflect his home city as much as his surreal envisioning of Chicago, encrypted in personal riddles.

Sam explains enigmatically about the track:

"You may find yourself on different sides of a mirror at one point or another."

"Chicago Town" follows the success of his BBC 6 Music A-List track "Death By Entertainment" and his second EP, "Arrival." This EP, which drew from genres like post-rock, jazz, dub, reggae, and no-wave, was well-received by The Line of Best Fit, DIY, So Young, NME, DMY, Clash, Notion, and more. It also caught the attention of BBC 6 Music's Mary Anne Hobbs and BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders. Sam has been touring extensively, performing at festivals such as Amsterdam's London Calling, Bristol's Ritual Union Festival, and Ipswich's Brighten The Corners. A homecoming performance at London's Rally Festival is scheduled for August 24th.
